Xavier College is a Catholic co-educational secondary school located north of Adelaide, just outside the regional town of Gawler, the gateway to the Barossa Valley.
The College was opened in 1995 in the tradition of the Salesian Order. The Salesians are a Congregation of the Catholic Church that have been involved in teaching and youth work in every part of the world for over 150 years and pass on to the College their ethos and rich tradition in the education of young people. In keeping with this tradition, we are inspired by the example of St John Bosco and strive to be a community committed to the holistic development of each student in an atmosphere of reasonableness and kindness.
At Xavier, we offer a Certificate I in Engineering at Year 10 in our Trade Training Centre. Our students also access a variety of Registered Training Organisations to pursue areas of interest or alternate pathways. These include TAFE SA, Australian Workplace Training, Queensford College, Foundation Education, Enable College, and ACCCO. Students usually complete this training one day a week at the RTO, though some students choose to study online.
We encourage students who are interested in School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships, and work with families and employers to find the right pathway for each student.
As part of the Catholic Education SA STEM Learning Initiative, STEM vocational pathways have been included under the Students tab for all VET courses listed in the CESA Directory. Links take readers to Training.gov.au which is the National Register on Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Australia. The website contains detailed information about Registered Training Organisations (RTO) and Accredited courses. Contact the VET and Careers Coordinators at your schools for further information.
