At St Columba College, our model of education across the Junior, Middle and Senior Schools is personalised and fosters thinking skills, enquiry and a love of learning.
At St Columba College, we are committed in our mission to bring about a world that God wants for each individual and family; a world where each person is deeply respected, valued and cared for. This mission is central to who we are as a school community and underpins our teaching, programs, relationships, structures and decisions.
St Columba College is a dynamic and caring place to be. Established in 1997, the College is an Anglican and Catholic school for boys and girls from Reception to Year 12.
A St Columba College education is one that prepares each child for an exciting and challenging future. We engage all students in an educational program that creates opportunities for them to learn in appropriate, relevant and real world contexts, equipping them with skills for the future.
VET & Vocational Learning Offerings
St Columba College provides students with the increased flexibility for diverse forms of learning and achievement recognised through the facilitation of Vocational Education and Training (VET) and School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBAT) as part of SACE. Whilst St Columba College does not facilitate any VET programs internally, students are able to engage in courses from a range of external Registered Training Organisations. Students can gain SACE credits for the successful completion of the VET qualifications or units of competency depending on the number of nominal hours of VET.
Depending on the course undertaken and its length, the cost of VET fees to families of students attending St Columba College will vary. Some courses are eligible to receive government assistance through the Training Guarantee for SACE Students (TGSS) initiative. For full-fee paying VET courses, students and their families are responsible for the payment of VET fees with the College committed to supporting them with a rebate of 75% of the VET fees, up to a maximum of $2,000 per student.
The College employs a VET Coordinator and Futures Counsellor to assist St Columba College students in determining if a VET course is the right choice for them. This provides the necessary guidance for students to determine what career pathway they may have and what course is going to provide the skills and qualifications necessary to reach their goals, and then assistance with the enrolment process.
As part of the Catholic Education SA STEM Learning Initiative, STEM vocational pathways have been included under the Students tab for all VET courses listed in the CESA Directory.
