Vocational Education and Training (VET) is designed to deliver workplace-specific skills and knowledge and covers a wide range of careers and industries, including trade and office work, retail, hospitality and technology. VET courses provide students with the basic knowledge and skills needed for entry-level jobs in a range of vocations and trades. Certificates II and III are often prerequisites for higher-level courses, such as diplomas, and often the units covered in these ‘foundation’ certificates can be credited towards further study.
VET can be studied as a stand-alone subject or incorporated into SACE subjects, such as Workplace Practices and Community Studies or a School-Based Apprenticeship. Students have the opportunity to enrol in a variety of different VET courses such as:
